Beverly Hills, CA (March 12, 2019) – World renowned for over 107 years, The Beverly Hills Hotel provided a magnificent backdrop for Daniel Marshall’s Modern Day Campfire Experience, hosted by Marshall and co-host Patrick Knapp Schwarzenegger, of Padre Azul Tequila.

 

In 2012 the hotel became the first historical landmark in Beverly Hills. Its magnificence, who’s-who history and reputation to spare no expense to create the ultimate customer “campfire” experience for each guest was the reason Marshall chose “Hotel California” for one of his international Modern Day Campfire’s.

Mr. Steve Harvey, Frank Stallone, Ralf Moeller, Cece Peniston, Prince Khaled Al Saud and an esteemed gathering from the entertainment, sports, political and business worlds joined the sold-out event.

Guests entered the hotel by way of the famous red carpet that every A-List Star, Royal, President, and Sovereign have tread. From that point, guests were transported into another world of glamour and ultimate luxury.

Upon check-in, guests received a DM Campfire package with Cigar Aficionado 92 point rated Daniel Marshall Cigars including the Papa Joe Panatela, a DM Robusto and the DM Since 1982 Lighter and Cutter.

Senator Isadore Hall opened up the dinner and introduced Marshall.

Daniel Marshall expressed his gratitude to the 55 distinguished guests, thanking them for their trust in the Daniel Marshall brand to attend the evening. “To be here with you at the Beverly Hills hotel is a dream come true. The standard of elegance, tradition and service of this hotel represents what we all share in our own respective fields. The Rat Pack, Howard Hughes, and Marilyn Monroe all shared the campfire here and made it home. One of my favorites stories is when Richard Burton and Liz Taylor checked in; they had a standing room service order for two bottles of vodka at breakfast and two for lunch. What happened to those days?”

Marshall continued, “The Campfire is a place of potential which brings with it a taste of the timeless. Gathering around with cigars is primal and precious. A place where acquaintances can move toward real friendship. What joins us together, the golden thread that runs through our veins and drives us to live our dreams is a commitment to create in all we do, is a richness of character and generosity of spirit. So when someone asks you do you smoke, the true answer is no. We don’t smoke, we taste. Jeremy Irons summed it up when he compared cigarettes to cigars. He said, ‘Cigarettes are like having sex, cigars are like making love.’”

Patrick Knapp Schwarzenegger spoke to the uniqueness of the Austrian inspired, award winning Padre Azul Super Premium Tequila and pairing with DM Cigars. The liquid gold of the tequila and brown gold of the cigars both share similar complementary characteristics, with the cigar pulling out notes of the tequila and the tequila pulling out the unique cigar flavors that one would not normally be able to savor without the other.

A 3-course sit-down dinner was prepared by the award-winning chefs and impeccably served by the “what ever you need, we will take care of “ team of 10, anticipating every need. The elegant meal started with Caprese, followed by the guest’s choice of Sea Bass or Filet Mignon, and finished with a Fresh Baked Apple Tart.
Double Diamond Schrader Cabernet and Wine Spectator 92 point rated Robert Mondavi Oakville Fume Blanc complemented the exquisite meal perfectly.

Guests quickly vacated the room after dinner to light up their cigars on the gorgeous 100-meter terrace while being entertained by live music and a famed magician, creating “Golden Moments” of camaraderie. Personal and profound campfire stories were shared that one would not normally hear or share.

 

The use of smart phones was restricted to further create the authentic “campfire” where, without technology, time can be of the moment. Celebrities and guests welcomed this policy that added an intimate and exclusive feeling of relaxed friendship.

Carving out time from hectic schedules, the esteemed guests flew in from New York, Texas, Arizona, Saudi Arabia, Sacramento, San Francisco and Vietnam, demonstrating the power of the cigar and the appeal of the campfire.

IPCPR: Senators Send Letter to FDA on Premium Cigar Exemption

 

Earlier this week, Senators Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson led a bipartisan letter to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, directing the FDA to bring quick regulatory relief to the premium cigar industry.  Signed by 17 Senators, the letter outlines the need for the quick adoption of a premium cigar definition by the agency and the ultimate exemption of that product category from current FDA regulations.

The letter comes as the FDA has recently extended by 30 days the public comment period for their review of current premium cigar regulations. The process, known as an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM), runs through July 25th.

Importantly, the letter’s signatories underlined their support for smart and impactful requirements that actually benefit the public health – particularly when it comes to youth. These are goals shared and actively supported by IPCPR’s retailers across the country. They correctly point out, however, that data resulting from government financed and executed public health surveys demonstrably show there is no correlation between premium cigars and youth use.

Each signatory to the letter is currently a co-sponsor of S. 294, legislation that seeks to define premium cigars and exempt them from the current regulatory regime.  The letter reflects this underlying support and understanding of the existential threat facing thousands of small businesses around the country – “We have consistently heard from those impacted that the FDA’s regulation of premium cigars fails to recognize that these cigars are a unique product with a unique consumer base.” It goes on to request “that the FDA exempt premium cigars from the FDA’s regulations under the FSPTCA and use the definition of a traditional cigar provided in the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2017, bipartisan legislation that we support”.

The IPCPR strongly applauds the letter.  On behalf of our member retailers, their suppliers and the millions of Americans who enjoy premium cigars, IPCPR thanks Senators Rubio and Nelson and the 15 Members of the Senate who continue to vocalize this issue and fight for what’s right.  We are encouraged by their continued recognition that premium cigars are an artisanal product supported by a small-business-driven industry and their advocacy for those small businesses to Commissioner Gottlieb. As the ANPRM process remains underway, IPCPR will continue to work with Congress and advocate on behalf of premium cigars.

IPCPR’s Annual Convention Returns to Sands Expo and Convention Center in 2019 & 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 25, 2018:
The International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR) has signed a multi-year contract to hold its Annual Convention & International Trade Show at the Sands Expo® and The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning in 2019.

“We’re very excited to be going back to the Sands/Venetian. Having the event and people all housed together under one roof gives everyone a lot more in the way of networking opportunities,” says IPCPR Board Secretary and Trade Show Committee Chairman, Scott Regina. “Attendees love it—they get amazing rates on luxury suites at a great property, with over 30 award-winning restaurants on site.”

The move also allows IPCPR to plan ahead, grow the event and evolve to meet its members’ needs as market and government policies change. The association has added more networking events and seminars to the convention schedule over the past few years, and the Sands Expo venue opens up additional opportunities for innovation and expansion.

This year, IPCPR’s 86th Annual Convention & International Trade Show will take place July 13 – 17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Dates have been set for the 2019 and 2020 events at the Sands Expo and Venetian, where the 87th Annual Convention & International Trade Show will take place June 29 – July 2, 2019, with suite rates of $189 per night, and the 88th Annual Convention & International Trade Show on June 27 – 30, 2020, with rates of $194 per night.

Founded in 1933, the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR) is the oldest, largest and most active trade association representing and assisting retailers of premium tobacco products and their suppliers. 

The IPCPR Annual Convention & International Trade Show is the retail tobacconist’s most important event of the year—a four-day extravaganza featuring the industry’s largest trade show, open exclusively to IPCPR members.
